BIGGEST PS5 EXCLUSIVES OF 2021 & BEYOND

PlayStation took the crown last-gen, with the PlayStation 4 selling over 100million units worldwide. And there’s no doubt in my mind that Sony’s success was mostly due to their focus on narrative-driven, single-player exclusives. But with last-gen being over and done with, it’s time to take a look at the PS5 exclusives that have been announced for 2021 and beyond. [check out: The Biggest Xbox Series X Exclusives]

GOD OF WAR: RAGNAROK – TBC 2021

Developer: Santa Monica Studio

Most certainly the biggest and most anticipated PS5 exclusive is the sequel to the biggest and best PS4 exclusive. The God of War reboot/continuation – released in 2018 – was one of the best games of the generation, sold over 12 million copies, and won multiple awards including Game of The Year. There’s big hype around this sequel and for good reason.

GHOSTWIRE: TOKYO – TBC 2021

Developer: Tango Gameworks

Ghostwire: Tokyo is an action-adventure title, with supernatural-horror elements, in what looks to be an open world environment. It’s being developed by the same studio who made The Evil Within 1 & 2.

DEATHLOOP – MAY 2021

Developer: Arkane Studios

 Deathloop is a first person shooter being developed by the same team responsible for the critically acclaimed Dishonoured franchise. You can play as one of two characters: Colt or Juliana. Your goal as Colt is to put an end to the time-loop, but if you play as Juliana you’ll be fighting to defend it.

GRAN TURISMO 7 – TBC 2021

Developer: Polyphony Digital

More vroom vroom gameplay with stunning visuals. Gran Turismo 7 will be releasing sometime in 2021 but will not be releasing on the PS4.

RATCHET & CLANK: RIFT APART – TBC 2021

Developer: Insomniac Games

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a third-person shooter and platformer game being developed by Insomniac Games. Rather than being more of the same, Rift Apart is going to be making use of the PlayStation 5’s fast loading SSD to introduce a new dimension-hopping mechanic that will allow players to switch between dimensions on the fly.

PROJECT ATHIA – TBC 2021

Developer: Luminous Productions

Project Athia will be a 24 month timed exclusive on the PS5 and is being developed by a new studio under Square Enix known as Luminous productions. Project Athia has been described as “a thrilling story-led, action-packed adventure”.

STRAY – TBC 2021

Developer: BlueTwelve Studio

It’s no God of War but you get to play as a cat who’s trying to solve an ancient mystery. What’s not to like? Stray will be released on PS5 and PC.

RETURNAL – MARCH 2021

Developer: Housemarque

Returnal is an upcoming third-person shooter science fiction psychological horror video game developed by Housemarque and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, set to be released for the PlayStation 5 on March 19, 2021.

DESTRUCTION ALL-STARS – FEB 2021

Developer: Lucid Games

Destruction AllStars is an upcoming vehicular combat game developed by Lucid Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is set to be released for the PlayStation 5 in February 2021.
